Tony has two decades experience promoting and marketing to youth audiences. He was involved in one of the world’s first TV-to-web enterprises and was the marketing manager for a UK youth based TV channel. He became the commercial manager for Optimistic Entertainment PLC, overseeing its international rollout, and won a nomination for a digital Emmy Award. Tony was one of the founders of University Choice TV and went on to develop the Global Campus site on a board with Sir Graham Davies, then Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, and Sir Drummond Bone currently Master of Balliol College Oxford.
Tony lectures on digital marketing to universities on behalf of The European Association for International Education (EAIE), the British Council, ICEF and CASE and to US Universities at NAFSA.
Tony was with INTO University Partnerships from 2009 – 2015. He drove the organisation’s digital ambitions and was responsible for the digital strategy. In his time with INTO, the website grew to be the most highly visited in the sector with a market leading presence in social media. Tony implemented attribution modelling and data-driven media buying while benchmarking metrics during recruitment cycles.
Tony is now the Global Digital Marketing Director for Study Group leading teams in the UK, USA and Australia, Study Group recruits over 73,00 students from 145 countries. 17 of the Study Group Universities rank in the top 200 worldwide.
He has been actively involved in digital marketing for student recruitment since 2005, working directly with Google and Facebook to reduce student acquisition costs and increase the proportion of directly recruited students.
At the Student of the Future Conference, Tony Lee will look at the fast-paced evolution of digital marketing technologies and how data has transformed best practice marketing techniques in the sector with a focus on digital student recruitment.
